Parco Naturale di Migliarino, San Rossore e Massaciuccolipresents a thriving balance of fauna and flora. Located in the central/northern area of Tuscany, it extends between the provinces of Pisa and Lucca, covering about 23,000 hectares and stretching along 32km of coastline.
The park is subdivided into a number of environments adjacent to and penetrating into one another, like the Macchia Lucchese scrubland, Lake Massaciuccoli, and the lake area that surrounds it, ending up at the former Presidential Estate of San Rossoreand the Tombolo and Migliarinoforeste. The San RossoreEstate is considered the heart of the park and the largest pine forest in Europe – as well as being Tuscany’s most important nature oasis. Fauna and flora are the main attractions in this splendid strip of land. The woods behind the dunes are in fact home to animals like red squirrels, hedgehogs, wild rabbits, and other mammals. The dunes themselves are home to typical sand species, like the precious beach goldenrod, and plants of various kinds like the prickly parsnip, helichrysum, sea holly, beach spurges, and sea lily. There are many ways to visit the park: on foot, on horseback, by bike, by carriage, or by boat or canoe. |

The park includes Oasi di Dune di Tirrenia, created in 1997 to protect the dunes along the Pisan coastline that have yet to be altered by beach establishments. It boasts thriving Mediterranean scrubland with dunes up to 12 metres tall, and covers about 24 hectares.
The Oasis also protects typical sand species, like the precious beach goldenrod, and plants of various kinds like the prickly parsnip, helichrysum, sea holly, beach spurges, and sea lily.
The Oasis may be visited by guided tour lasting about an hour and a half, from May through September.
